The UK leads the world in most indicators of digital capability- with the internet contributing more to our GDP than to that of any other G20 country and is predicted to grow 11 per cent a year to reach £221 billion by 2016.
This quote is not from Dyenamic Solutions, but from Martha Lane Fox the cofounder of lastminute.com.
“The private sector including small businesses will grow twice as fast as their competitors if they are online, and evidence shows that SMEs with a web presence do get significant benefits with 68 per cent saying it saves time and/or money and 37 per cent agreeing it increases sales volumes.”
“Failing to act now would result in businesses operating at a significant disadvantage as the rest of the UK becomes increasingly digital”, she said.
Martha Lane Fox is urging business to go ‘digital by default’ with new a Go ON venture.
Go On partners including the BBC, the Big Lottery Fund, E.ON, Lloyds, TalkTalk, Age UK and the Post Office Limited will all encourage more action by small businesses and charities to encourage the 8.2 million UK adults who have never used the internet to go online.
Go ON will be the successor to Race Online 2012, which was set up to encourage more people to use the web, and Lane Fox will be its chairman.
It’s not too late for your business to join the digital world.
According to Lane Fox- only slightly more than one in ten small businesses currently have “transactional websites”, that allowed users to buy things online, and that she believed more users would be encouraged online if more businesses and charities needed users, employees and volunteers to familiar with using the internet.
